Älgsjöberget
- Nature reserve
- County: Jämtlands län
Actions
Description
What characterizes the reserve is that the coniferous forest is mixed with many deciduous trees. Birch, willow and aspen are found in both younger and slightly older versions. On many specimens you can find lung lichen. It is a light green large-leaved lichen that thrives on old trees in forests that have been left untouched for a long time. Particularly exciting are the areas where there are many fallen deciduous trees. The northernmost 30 hectares consist of taiga and nutrient-rich spruce forest habitats. They are so valuable that they have been designated as part of the European network of protected areas, Natura 2000.
