Description

Kroksjö öga is a forest area located next to the lakes Kroksjön and Långsjön. The nature is hilly and full of large boulders. In Kroksjö öga you can fish in one of the lakes (fishing license). There are no paths in the area, so you can roam freely in the forest. The forest, lakes and hilly terrain offer great nature experiences. The area is located 6 kilometers northwest of Lingbo and covers 141 hectares.

Dead ice landscape in Kroksjö öga

The reserve's hilly terrain shows a so-called dead ice landscape. When the ice sheet melted, large blocks of ice (dead ice) were left behind.

The dead ice gradually became embedded in moraine and sediment. When the ice blocks melted, they left pits behind, creating the hilly landscape we see here today.

Old forest among boulders

Parts of the forest are old because it has been difficult to get around among all the boulders. Many hanging lichens grow in the trees. The yellowish-gray, large-growing yarn lichen is particularly good.

The reserve has also been home to the red-listed species violet-grey spiked lichen, dwarf goblet lichen and scented lichen.
