Description

‼ The roof of the windbreak at Stora Äggdalsjön has blown off after storm Dave and there is a large leaning spruce next to it. Be careful when you are in the forest. There are many windfalls and leaning trees in the area.

Sit on a bench with a view of the lake, or lean against a tree amidst bright green moss. Here you can go deep into the mysterious big forest, or stick to a rest area with a beautiful view near the roads.

It's no wonder that Svartedalen is a popular recreational area, because there's something for everyone here. The area is hilly with many viewpoints, rich in lakes and has a well-developed trail system. There are pleasant areas for berry and mushroom picking. In Svartedalen there are over 30 rest areas, 20 of which have a fireplace and 10 shelters. In addition, the Bohus Trail stretches about 2 miles across from north to south.

Svartedalen is not only filled with beautiful nature, but also remains from the past. 11 torp ruins are marked with information signs. The easiest way to find them is to use the Svartedalen orientation map.

At Klarevatten, a 150 m long footpath runs along the lake to a barbecue hut. There is also parking, a toilet and two viewing benches along the route. Everything is adapted for accessibility and has been financed by Naturkompaniets prize Naturbonusen 2020. There is also an accessibility-adapted jetty, which unfortunately at the moment can periodically be under water.

Many trails start from Bottenstugan. At the cabin there are two shelters, a meadow area with space for tents, an accessible shelter with a fireplace and a dry toilet. Feel free to choose other places to start from during weekends, as Bottenstugan is a popular starting point and the reserve parking lots are easily full. Bottenstugan has previously been available to rent for overnight stays, but is now undergoing renovation.
