Description

At Grundskatan, not far from here, a similar furnace has been dated to the first part of the 18th century. This corresponds well with the Russian galley fleet that was occasionally based here in 1721 during the Great Northern War. The galleys were open and low ships rowed by very large crews. They were not suited to the open sea. To cook and bake bread, you had to go ashore.
