Description

Most of the buildings along the Nacka stream you can see today are remnants of mill operations in the 18th and 19th centuries. The large red building with half-round windows is Mellankvarn from 1842. Towards the river runs a brick gutter that was used to lead water from the mill pond higher up. To the south of the house is a sluice gate. This was the site of the hammer forge founded by Gustav Vasa in the 1550s. Locks, horseshoes and chains were made there. The plant was expanded with several mills and a copper warehouse. At the end of the 16th century, around 50 people worked at Nacka ströms industries.

You pass the mill building if you follow the cultural walk around Nacka ström.
