Grillplatser längs Östgötaleden

Is there anything better than gathering around a fire and maybe
grilling something delicious?

Along the Östgötaleden, you’ll find plenty of rest areas with grills, often in
truly scenic locations where you can enjoy yourself any time of year! On
the website, you can filter by “GRILLING AREA.”

Please note: Only light fires in the designated grills, make sure to extinguish the fire completely, and take all your trash home with you! Some municipalities try to provide firewood, but it’s difficult to estimate how much will be needed. To be safe, bring your own firewood. Information about lighting fires and barbecuing in nature, as well as any fire bans, is published by the County Administrative Board: Fire Safety

Find your favorite spot along the Östgötaleden trail! Here are a few tips for great rest areas with barbecue facilities that are also accessible by car:

Solbergskogen Sya, Mjölby

Along the beautiful Syaslingan trail, which connects Mjölby with the village of Sya, you’ll find this barbecue area shared with the hunting club. The barbecue area is located 4 km from the Sya ski stadium, where there is a parking lot.

Öningen Harbor, Ödeshög

Here you can settle in and enjoy yourself just a stone’s throw from Lake Vättern! The rest area has a barbecue, picnic tables, and an outhouse. You can swim from the cliffs or in a sheltered cove. Öningen Harbor is reached via a short detour from the Ödeshög–Stocklycke route. There is also a small parking lot above the harbor.

Herrsjön Jursla, Norrköping

A beautifully situated rest area by Lake Herrsjön in the Herrsjöskogen Nature Reserve. It features picnic tables and a barbecue area. Parking is available at the Lillsjön fitness trail in Jursla. From the parking lot, it’s a 1.5-kilometer walk along the Östgötaleden trail to the barbecue area

Sätravallen, Linköping

A campsite beautifully situated on a small headland on Lake Sätrasjön, featuring a wind shelter, a barbecue area, and benches. The site is also accessible by car. There is a connecting path to the bus stop in Bestorp.

Sjöbo-Knäppan, Motala

The beautiful Sjöbo-Knäppan Nature Reserve is located on Knäppaviken in Boren, just outside Motala. Here you’ll find a swimming area with a dock, popularly known as Gröna Plan. Next to the swimming area is a nice picnic area with benches. Parking is available at the entrance to the nature reserve.

Stavsätters Swimming Area, Linköping

The swimming area is located at Stora Rängen in the beautiful oak-forested landscape south of Linköping. The swimming area is reached after a short walk through a pasture. The walk from the parking lot to the swimming area takes about five to ten minutes. The swimming area features a dock, large grassy areas, a barbecue area, and a dry toilet (open during the summer).

Ekudden Kvädö, Valdemarsvik

A barbecue area with a magical view of the open sea in the outer part of the Kvädö Nature Reserve, just a short walk from the parking lot. There is also a wind shelter and a dry toilet.

Glimmingen Swimming Area, Kinda

A child-friendly swimming area with a sandy beach on Lake Glimmingen in a beautiful
natural setting about 7 km southwest of Kisa. There is parking, a barbecue area, and a dry toilet
(open during the summer). Right nearby is a wind shelter with log benches and
a grill, where you can look out over the lake.
