Friluftslådan i Östergötland

More children and young people in Östergötland should have the opportunity to
discover nature through play, learning, and outdoor activities. That is why Region
Östergötland is participating in the Friluftslådan initiative, a collaboration between several
stakeholders in the county, with the Östergötland County Administrative Board serving as the project owner.

The Friluftslådan contains equipment and educational materials
that make it easier for schools to conduct outdoor lessons. Among other things, it includes
camp stoves, tarps, fire starters, compasses, and equipment for
nature studies. The boxes also contain ready-made activities and lesson plans,
such as materials on the right of public access and outdoor safety.

Spending time outdoors in nature promotes physical activity, learning, and
well-being. It also fosters a sense of community, inclusion, and greater knowledge of
nature and the environment. Through the outdoor activity kit, children and young people also have the opportunity to
practice practical skills that are valuable in everyday life and during
crisis situations.

The outdoor activity kits are primarily intended for school classes from
preschool through high school, but can also be borrowed by organizations for activities with
larger groups. The kits are available at several locations throughout the county, including Naturum
Tåkern and Naturum Sommen.

The outdoor activity kits are a collaboration between the County Administrative Board
of Östergötland, Motala Municipality, Norrköping Municipality, Ydre Municipality, Åtvidaberg
Municipality, Region Östergötland, Fritidsbanken, Naturum Tåkern, Naturum Sommen,
Skogen i skolan, and Friluftsfrämjandet Region East. The project has also been supported
by the Diocese of Linköping.
