Description

Kanterboda Nature Reserve is located on the slopes of Kilsbergen. The nature reserve was originally created to protect the stands of yew that grow abundantly in the area. In recent years, the nature reserve has been significantly expanded to include more of the unusual habitat types of limestone coniferous forest and rich marshland. There is also an ancient castle and a couple of former limestone quarries within the reserve. It is very rich in species.

The reserve includes a small forest and wetland area south of the road to Suttarboda. There is also an ancient castle and a couple of former limestone quarries within the reserve. The reserve includes a large number of habitat types, rocky pine forest, healthy spruce forest, swampy coniferous forest, rich marsh, mixed forest of deciduous and coniferous trees and the area is very species-rich.

From Garphyttan, drive towards Lannafors. Take the exit towards Suttarboda. After a few hundred meters, see the sign on the left.

In the reserve it is forbidden to:

bring an unleashed dog
make a fire
ride a horse
drive a motorized vehicle
break branches, cut down trees or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs
picking, digging up or otherwise damaging tree and shrub seedlings, flowers or other plants
camping
organize orientation checks or marked trails
put up a board, poster, billboard, sign, inscription or similar
