Description
Svartån is an 8-mile-long canoe route from Lake Ölen in Värmland to Örebro. The river flows for the most part through a cultural and agricultural landscape, but also has nice wilderness areas. Starting in one of Kilsbergen's forest lakes, the trail passes lakes on its way to the forests north of Skagerhultsmossen. The river then flows through a landscape on the edge of Kilsbergen before turning east towards the flat Närkeslätten.
Svartån is easy to paddle and good for a beginner. A suitable two-day trip can start at Stockåsbron with an overnight stay at the Lekeberga-Sälven rest area and continue to Örebro. A paddling trip with two overnight stays can start at Svartå Herrgård.
