Description

A decent walk even for the little ones. The hike is 2.5 kilometers one way if you start at Fjällgården. Once at Vattenfallet, you can have a barbecue or eat your lunch while enjoying a fantastic view. Those who dare can also cool off in the small lagoons between the falls.

From Fjällgården in Gräftåvallen, follow the road marked "summer trail to the mountain". At the turning wheel in the slalom slope, follow the summer trail up to Östfjället, a trampled color-marked trail. After about 2 km, there is a sign "fallen" on the right side. Walk in the direction of the sign and after about ½ km you will arrive at the falls on the mountain. If you stop and listen, you can hear the rippling of the water.

The mountains are a cultural landscape and reindeer herding takes place in several places. This is also the case in Bergs municipality. The Tåssåsens Sami village operates here with around 50 members and around 9,000 reindeer in the summer herd. Visitor pressure in the mountains is increasing and with it the risk of impact on reindeer husbandry. It is important that you, as a mountain visitor, show consideration and know how to act where reindeer herding is carried out.

Keep this in mind when you are in the mountains:

  • Always leave the reindeer alone. If you come across reindeer, take a wide detour around or sit down quietly and wait for them to pass.
  • Keep your dog on a leash where there are reindeer. A loose dog can cause great disturbance and harm to the reindeer and reindeer herding work.
  • Follow marked trails.
  • Avoid disturbing reindeer at snow camps, they stay there to protect themselves from heat and troublesome insects.
  • Avoid camping in lush valleys.
  • Cycle on roads and trails intended for cycling.
  • At hållbarafjäll.nu you can keep up to date on where you can stay without disturbing the reindeer, both during calving and calf marking (April 20-July 20) and during moose hunting and the reindeer's rutting period (September 1-October 25).
