Vandringstur till Storåkläppen

Go through Nordsäterns fäbodvall and turn left before the bridge over Storån. Then follow the signs towards Storåkläppen. In the middle of the marsh along the path is the "Namnstenen", which got its name from the fact that people in the past carved their names on it.

Up to the foot of Storåkläppen, the terrain varies between dry forest slopes and wet bogs. When the climb to the top begins, Storåkläppen rises majestically along with Storådörren, Blåfjället, Rensnävet and the terrain becomes dry and rocky.

The climb can be a bit strenuous but with a few breaks, most people can manage the hike to the top. Once up, you have a view of the entire magnificent mountain world and parts of Storsjö village.

The mountains are a cultural landscape and reindeer herding takes place in several places. Four Sami villages operate in Berg municipality. Visitor pressure in the mountains is increasing and with it the risk of impact on reindeer husbandry. It is important that you, as a mountain visitor, show consideration and know how you should act where reindeer herding takes place:

• Always leave the reindeer alone. If you come across reindeer, take a wide detour or sit down quietly and wait for them to pass.
• Keep your dog on a leash where there are reindeer. A loose dog can cause great disturbance and harm to the reindeer and reindeer herding work.
• Follow marked trails.
• Avoid disturbing reindeer at snow camps, they stay there to protect themselves from heat and troublesome insects.
• Avoid camping in lush valleys.
• Cycle on roads and paths intended for cycling.
