Description

The Sätra hazel forest nature reserve is located between Plintsberg and Sätra on a calcareous slope with a rich flora of herbs, shrubs and trees. The land was previously used for haymaking and grazing. In spring, the bluebells bloom beautifully. The hazel, which is very unusual at these latitudes, thrives here on the southern slope. There are plenty of hazel bushes and hazel shoots and the area used to be called the nut forest.

The maple leaf beetle, a very rare beetle in Sweden, has been found in the area. The rowan leaf beetle has been designated a species of concern for Leksand municipality.
