Description

Gålö is an old archipelago landscape kept open by grazing animals. There are long beaches and deep bays with nice bathing spots, sunny cliffs and breathtaking views of the sea. You can easily get around the reserve on foot. At Stegsholm there is a hiking trail through a rich agricultural landscape with pastures and grazed beach meadows. The area is easy to reach by car and bus. At Gålö havsbad there is camping, a hostel, cabins and a restaurant.

Directions

By car: From Nynäsvägen (road 73), exit towards Dalarö. After 10 km take the exit towards Gålö.

By public transport: Bus 845 from Västerhaninge to Gålö. All buses to Dalarö stop at Gålö handel, just outside the northern part of the reserve.

Regulations

To protect the Gålö Nature Reserve, there are rules you must follow.

In the reserve it is forbidden to

  1. land on the islands Fågelgrundet, Mödomen and Västra and Östra Fjäderholmen with adjacent islets and islands or enter the water area within 100 meters of these islands (see map) between 1 April and 31 July
  2. take stones, dig, hack, drill, blast, carve, paint or otherwise damage rock, soil or stone
  3. break branches, cut down or otherwise damage living or dead trees and bushes or dig up plants
  4. bring an unleashed dog. The regulation does not apply to hunting or to dog training organized by the hunting right holder
  5. make fires other than in designated areas
  6. ride on marked hiking trails
  7. camping for more than two consecutive days other than in a designated place
  8. set up a caravan outside the campsite
  9. anchor a boat on the same beach for more than two consecutive days. The regulation does not apply at jetties and within marinas
  10. put up a poster, sign or similar or make an inscription. Certain exceptions apply in areas such as vacant land.

The regulations do not apply within plots and yards, campsites or marinas.
