Description
Markaskogen gives a feeling of a large forest with old spruce forest, rocky areas and small bogs. The forest offers many opportunities for exercise and recreation. Electric light trails, mountain bike trails, ski trails and a variety of hiking trails are some of what the area has to offer.
In the northern part of the area around the remains of the former Lake Marksjön, there is a grazed landscape with wetland environments. South of the lake are primeval swamp forests and stretches of deciduous forest. These give way to spruce forests, pine forests and bogs above the fault line that runs along the entire southern part of Örebro. In the far south, there is an older, small, broken agricultural landscape around the Ässkog farm.
