Description

Guests come to us from all directions. The classic hiking routes, the Jämtland Triangle and the Sylarna Loop, both pass through Blåhammaren. You can start your hike from Storulvån, Storerikvollen, Rundhögen, or Storlien.

Blåhammaren offers a self-catering kitchen, sauna, shower, shop, and drying room. The 100-year-old main building has plenty of social spaces. Here, you can enjoy your meal, recover after the day's hike, play games, and socialize. The self-catering kitchen is equipped with a stove, refrigerator, running water, spices, and seasonings.

The sauna at Blåhammaren is famous for its magnificent view of the Norwegian mountains. After a long day in the mountains, you can enjoy a shower and a sauna session. The sauna is mixed, please bring your own towel and something to wear inside.

The shop offers a wide selection of dry goods, canned food, snacks, sweets, and drinks. The selection corresponds to the "Large" assortment available in mountain huts.

STF Blåhammaren is cashless. You can prepay for your stay, but on-site, you can only pay by card.

Directions

Blåhammaren is located beyond the reach of roads. To get here, you’ll need to ski, hike, run, or bike. The closest road access is at Storulvån.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Travel easily and climate-smart to STF Storulvån with SJ trains to either Duved or Enafors, followed by a connecting transfer with Wänseth Buss/Topptaxi. For the timetable, visit https://www.wansethbuss.se/tidtabell (opens in new tab). The transfer runs on a fixed schedule and connects with certain train arrivals and departures, but private transfers can also be booked at other times if preferred.

Snälltåget runs direct from southern Sweden to Enafors twice a week from week 9 until Easter and during July–September, with connecting transfer to and from Storulvån included in the ticket price. You can purchase the entire trip including transfer.

Travel time by train to Duved: from Östersund 2 hours, from Stockholm 8, from Gothenburg 13, and from Malmö 14 hours.

At STF Storulvån you can stock up on provisions, repack, store your luggage, and enjoy a good breakfast or lunch before starting your hike toward Blåhammaren. Maps are available in the Storulvån shop.

CAR
Storulvån is 17 km from the E14 highway. It’s a 2-hour drive from Östersund, 1 hour from Åre, and 1.5 hours from Trondheim. From E14 in Enafors, follow the signs to Storulvån. The final 8 km follow the edge of the bare mountain on a paved road, offering sweeping views over the Jämtland mountains.

At Storulvån you can park for the duration of your mountain tour. Payment is made via Swish or card, and parking is free if you’re staying at Storulvån. Electric car charging is available.

Please note! From February 1 to April 15, the road between Handöl and Storulvån is closed at night between 22:00–08:00. It may also be closed during the day in bad weather.

AIR
Fly to Östersund. Rental cars are available at the airport and the drive to Storulvån takes about 2 hours.
