Runriket, Broby bro

There are six rune stones in the area around Broby Bridge. Four of them can be traced back to the Jarlabanke family. One of the stones was erected by the Viking woman Estrid, Jarlabanke's grandmother, in memory of her husband Östen who died in Greece. The stone is the only preserved Swedish rune carving that mentions the pilgrimages to Jerusalem. It was during excavations at Broby Bridge that Estrid's grave was found.
