Opis

Where did the name Blekinge come from? Well, it may have to do with Hallarumsviken. The name “Bleking” is said to have been formed from “Blek”, the name of an open expanse of water meaning “shining, still”. Those searching for the place the name might be linked to have fixed on Hallarumsviken in the parishes of Ramdala and Jämjö in Östra härad. North of the bay there is a grave field at the crown of a long hill called “Store Backe” (Big Slope) with standing stones, round, rectangular and ship-shaped stone circles, tri-radial cairns and rounded mounds – all of which indicate a date in the Viking period. In Hallarumsviken you find a varied landscape of bare rock, rugged oak woods and steep drops, rift valleys with open grazing and beautiful views over a Blekinge inner archipelago. This is also where Jämjö Boat Club has its harbour with moorings for 90 boats. Guest boats are always welcome, although there are specific guest moorings. There is a popular swimming beach with a kiosk next to the harbour. Source: Jämjö Boat Club
