Farstanäs nature reserve is a popular outdoor recreation area with very varied nature. There is a popular swimming area with camping facilities, manor house environments, farmland and a large contiguous forest area. The forest consists of many different environments where many unusual species thrive. In the reserve you will find beautiful avenues of lime and ash that frame Farsta farm, which has been here since the 18th century.

From the camping area there are three marked trails through different natural environments. You can choose to follow the red-marked Strandsstigen (2.7 km) along the water and up on the cliffs for a lovely view of the inlet to Södertälje. The blue-marked Skogsstigen (3.5 km) helps you discover the diversity of the forest, while the yellow-marked Paradisstigen (2.3 km) shows you around among pastures and manor environments.

The sandy beach at the campsite is about 350 meters long and well maintained. There are toilets in the camping area.

Farstanäs nature reserve was established in 1967 by the county administrative board but was reorganized in 2023 by Södertälje municipality. The reserve is 321 hectares (281 hectares of land and 40 hectares of water). Each nature reserve has specific regulations for the public. Please check these online or on the information boards on site before you visit the area.

Farstanäs nature reserve is located about 10 km south of Södertälje, next to road 525. Parking is available at the campsite (for a fee), at Farsta farm and south of the forest area at Nästäppan's cottage area. Bus lines are available to the area, get off at the "Solåkrabyn" stop.

In the nature reserve it is forbidden to:

drive motorized vehicles other than on roads and designated areas

within the camping and bathing area for other than short-term accommodation: set up caravans, motorhomes, tents or the like, anchor or moor boats or use camping cabins or hostels

operate a jet ski

pitching a caravan, motorhome or tent other than in a designated place in the camping area

bring an unleashed dog or other stray pet

make fires other than in designated fireplaces. The ban does not apply to a barbecue in connection with a rented cottage or campsite that is placed so that the surface is not damaged,

make an inscription or put up a board, sign, poster or similar outside the camping and bathing area. Signs, orientation screens and tips may be set up if these are removed after the event has ended,

disturbing or harming wildlife, for example by climbing trees, capturing or killing mammals, birds, reptiles or amphibians

picking, digging up or carrying away plants and woody fungi of any kind

felling, damaging or removing living or dead trees and shrubs and removing fallen trunks,

destroy or damage rock, earth or stone by digging, hacking, drilling, blasting, grating, painting

planting or introducing any plant or animal species classified as an invasive alien species.
