Orlunda Kyrka

On the way from Vadstena to Skänninge, where the road splits, is Orlunda church. Where the current church stands, there used to be a church from the early 13th century. Suddenly it was discovered that the old church was too small. The aisle was so narrow that you couldn't even walk two abreast and you couldn't sit more than four in each pew. Discussions began and it was decided that the church should be demolished. On August 7, 1890, the new church was completed - a cathedral in the countryside.
