Beskrivelse
Hästholmen is one of the few good harbor locations along Vättern. Alvastra monastery had its harbor and marketplace here. In the Middle Ages there was a chapel. After the chapel disappeared, the cemetery was used for the burial of people found drowned on Lake Vättern.
In the 14th century there was a castle on the islet in the harbor. There are rock carvings from the Bronze Age on an islet south of the settlement.
Hästholmen has a bathing area, restaurants, ice cream parlor, accommodation, etc.
