Beskrivelse
After the buttresses were cut, the men grabbed the long iron chains attached to the ridge. They pulled with all their might and with a roar the old stave church, which had stood there since the 13th century, crashed to the ground in a cloud of dust. The year was 1854.
The new church built on the site was designed by Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander, one of the barony's many star architects. Jonas Jonsson was hired as master builder.
The church is built in neo-Gothic style and as such was one of the first in the country when it was inaugurated in 1857. Inside, the church is rich in beautiful woodwork and from the church steps there is a view of the church village and the waters of Lake Båtsjön.
