8. Talltjut

A path leads south, until it meets the edge of the shore on Tjutudden headland’s southern tip. The walk towards Talltjut continues along the embankment, which is lined by pines. The shore is edged with stones and boulders; it is wild but easily accessible in a way that is so typical of the municipality’s lakes. Thanks to the high embankment it is for the most part easy to get past the scented pine marsh that separates Talltjut from other Tjuts.

A sign that the forest is old and relatively undisturbed is the abundant occurrence of the little wild orchid, creeping lady’s tresses! It adorns the moss carpet with its marbled rosettes of leaves and blooms in July-August with small white flowers.

Recommendations

Good shoes, a magnifying glass to study mosses and lichens more closely.

Access

Some walking is required. However, the ground is flat and the terrain is not especially demanding even if there is a bit of climbing up to the ridge.
