Beskrivelse
The Ansätten mountain is made up of rocks that provide nutrient-rich flows of groundwater and streams. This provides conditions for a diversity of plants to thrive. The spruces grow quickly and become large, you can meet some with impressive diameters of 80 centimeters. The spruce forest in the area is old, many spruces are 150-200 years old. But there are trees of all ages. The forest has been left to fend for itself and the amount of dead trees, standing or lying, varies with how nutrient-rich the soil is. The more nutrient-rich the soil, the faster the spruce grows, which is more susceptible to decay, resulting in more dead trees.

During high summer, the area can be reached by driving up to Ansättåns canyon and then hiking along Ansättåleden about three kilometers to the southwest to reach the nature reserve entrance. At other times of the year, the road to the canyon is closed and then the area is most easily reached by following Ansättåleden from south of Rörvattnet. To connect to the trail if you are coming from Hotagen, you can drive the road from Hotagen towards Rörvattnet for about eight kilometers and then turn left towards Lövnäset. Follow the road for about one kilometer, park. Now there is about 10 kilometers of hiking to the entrance of Ansättåns nature reserve.
Forskrifter
Welcome to Ansättån. Keep in mind that in the reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately damaging or disturbing wildlife,
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make fires, other than with firewood
- drive a motorized vehicle in terrain on bare ground.
Without the permission of the County Administrative Board, it is forbidden to:
- conduct or engage in organized outdoor recreation, competitions, camp activities, military exercises or other organized events,
- conduct scientific studies that involve the collection of species or have other impacts on the natural environment.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
