Kuvaus

The croft cottage Kjöpet was donated to the local heritage association in 1947 and was the first building owned by the association. Kjöpet, built in 1789, is a ridge-roofed cottage. The cottage is preserved in its original condition except for the roof, which used to be made of turf.

From 1790 to 1937, thirteen different crofters worked and lived in Kjöpet, with up to ten people living in the cottage at the same time.

From 1871 to 1931, crofter Peter Månsson and his wife Ingrid Kajsa, or “Inget på Kjöpet” as she was mostly called, were the tenants of the croft. She was known for healing sick animals.

She also cared for a blind war-injured man who lived in the small chamber.

Between 1931 and 1937, her son Gustaf lived in Kjöpet. After that, the cottage has stood empty.
