There are several possibilities for choosing a route after Diö bathing place;

  1. Diö - Älvanäs / Byvärma - passage straight across Lake Möckeln towards Gustavsfors.
  2. Diö - Sjöstugans Camping / Älmhult - lake Möckeln to the south.
  3. Diö - Ryssbysjön Möckeln north west of the island Marsholm into Helge å upstream.

Lake Möckeln is known for being capricious and the weather changes quickly. It is a shallow lake with many islands and in severe weather it quickly becomes high waves and difficulties to paddle and keep the course. Avoid paddling in windy weather. Plan your route according to prevailing conditions and feel free to follow the shoreline on the side of the lake where the wind comes from. As the wind usually comes from the southwest, the blue line of the canoe trail is drawn to follow the shoreline in the greatest possible protection from southwest winds. If the north-easterly wind blows, the route should therefore be changed drastically to provide the most comfortable journey.

Most of the island of Marsholm is a nature reserve. The entire area by Höö is a nature reserve and bird protection area. On most islands, it is forbidden to go ashore from 1 April to 31 July. Tents are not allowed in the nature reserves. NOTE! The area between Höö and Marsholm is a nature reserve and it is forbidden to go ashore on most of the small islands. Therefore, please only camp / go ashore at signposted canoe rest areas on Höö and Marsholm.
