The lighthouse was built in 1859, and it was manned until 1970. The lighthouse keeper also took care of the weather observations that could be heard every day since 1924 in the radio's sea report: "Skagsudde, Järnäsklubb, Holmögadd, Bjuröklubb, Pite-Rönnskär...".
Along the ramp up to the lighthouse there are signs telling about the interesting nature and history of the reserve.
