Beschreibung

Utö offers both rich archipelago nature and Swedish industrial history, with traces of several hundred years of mining. The island’s ancient bedrock, which contains limestone, influences the local plant life. Especially in the nature reserve in the northern part of the island, you can find many species of orchids.

In spring and autumn, you can watch the migration routes of passing birds, while in summer there are plenty of places for swimming. The best way to get around the island is by bicycle, which can be rented locally.

Utö is also home to a lively community with a shop, hostel, and restaurants.

This nagture reserve is managed by the Archhipelago Foundation. For more information about what you can see and do here, visit the website Stockholm Archipelago | Explore Archipelago.
