Norra toppen, Stenshuvud

The mountain Stenshuvud has given its name to the national park. You can see Stenshuvud clearly both from Simrishamn harbor and from Åhus sandy beach. For centuries, Stenshuvud has been an important sea mark for seafarers.

The road up to Stenshuvud is lined with hornbeam forest, which in spring is filled with birdsong and large carpets of wood anemones. In winter, you can see the sea glimmering between the trees and the large oaks become more prominent in the forest.

Once up on Stenshuvud, there are three viewpoints: the southern, eastern and northern heads. It is well worth the effort to go to all three, as you see the coast in different directions from the different viewpoints.

The highest point on Stenshuvud is the northern head, here you stand 97 meters above sea level and look out over Hanöbukten.

To get up to Stenshuvud, follow the red trail markings from the main entrance. It is 2 km to walk up to the view and back again.

If you have instead parked at the Hällevik entrance (north parking lot at Kivik's musteri), you can easily follow the orange markings of the Skåne trail up the mountain. Once up on the mountain, follow the signs towards Hällevik to get back to the parking lot.
