During the spring and summer of 2026, Motala Municipality will carry out maintenance work in
Staffanstorp nature reserve.
A couple of pastures will get new fences, and before that, some
trees will be felled and parts of the pastures cleared.
There are markings on trees and bushes, and visitors
will be able to see when felling and clearing is taking place.
The reserve can be visited as usual, but during some
day, some paths may be impassable due to tree felling and
fencing.
In Staffanstorps nature reserve, well-walked paths show the way through herb-rich spruce forest, sheep-grazed dry slopes, past marshes and interesting lakes. The dead ice- landscape in the reserve was formed during the last ice age. The hilly terrain and the calcareous moraine create conditions for the area's different vegetation types. Like the nearby Sjöbo-Knäppan reserve, Staffanstorp's documented history dates back to the Middle Ages. Large parts of the reserve were used for grazing and mowing. Today's old house foundations, stone fences and cairns help us to understand what this ancient landscape looked like.
At the visitor barn in Staffanstorp nature reserve, there is an accessible toilet and firesite.
The nature reserve is managed by Motala municipality.
The area is easily accessible and can be reached by both car and bicycle. Bus and regional bus stops are one kilometer away from the reserve. Two signposted approaches lead to the area. The official access to the reserve is from the north, from Djurgårdsvägen. Parking is available at the farm Staffanstorp. The reserve is also within walking distance from Motala city.
