Here is a sign with a quote from one of Eddie Meduza's many songs. "Why don't the trains stop in Åskefällalund anymore, As far as I can remember, they used to".
The song asks the question whether change for the sake of change is always something to strive for. A jab at the centralization of our country, or just a nostalgic, nice to singalong, song? That is up to the listener to think about.
Eddie Meduza spent some time in Åskefällalund as he had relatives who were living here. He probably wrote some of his songs here and presumably he got the idea for the lyrics to this song from how the people of the place talked about the old railway that stopped operating in 1939. The railway was called Nättraby-Alnaryd-Elmeboda Railway (NAEJ or NAÄJ) and was popularly called the Krösnabaneleden because the people in Karlskrona/Nättraby took the train up to Småland to pick lingonberries. However, the railway never passed through Åskefällalund, but the nearest station was in Yxnanäs, which Utvandrarleden also passes about 6km further east.
A passenger train wagon that ran on this railway can still be seen in Rävemåla Hembygdspark, together with much else historically interesting from the past.
