In the past, horse-drawn carriages were the most common means of transportation. Often only the upper classes had access to a carriage for passenger transportation, but at the end of the "horse-drawn carriage era" almost every middle-class family had its own horse-drawn carriage.

Even today we use horse-drawn carriages in Högbo, usually in connection with events or weddings, but also in everyday work when we use the horses to transport both rice and compost.

The horses also serve as a complement to work with machines. It's an environmentally friendly way of working and the beautiful North Swedes bring joy to the environment that a machine cannot. Among other things, they help with graveling and mowing, the latter of which is a popular job for the horses. Yes, they mow the grass whether they are moving or standing still we say!
