Opis
The large Vedåsa nature reserve consists mostly of water and extends over parts of Helge å, Agunnarydssjön, and the northern part of Lake Möckeln. At the southern part of Agunnarydssjön, you will find two paths, and at the northern part of Lake Möckeln, there are Pers shortcuts and Karl Oskar’s trail.
The 368-hectare Vedåsa nature reserve is mostly made up of aquatic environments, deciduous forests, and pastures. Helge å, Agunnarydssjön, and the northern part of Lake Möckeln are included in the reserve. The water areas of Vedåsa are of great importance for wildlife, and within the reserve, there are both the bird species lesser spotted woodpecker and the fish species catfish – both endangered species.
Pastures, grazed forest, older coarse deciduous trees, deciduous forests, wetlands, willow-covered shores, and aquatic environments – the great natural values are many. Old lime trees, stone walls, and cultivation cairns testify to how the land has been used in older times. In addition, Vedåsa has a rich bird life, and here breed, among others, lesser spotted woodpecker, tawny owl, hobby, and honey buzzard.
In the reserve’s water areas, crane, whooper swan, bittern, marsh harrier, teal, and redshank breed, to name a few. You who visit the nature reserve also have the chance to see lesser flycatchers, thrush nightingales, black terns, or perhaps even the mighty sea eagle – all are some of the bird species that sometimes make temporary visits to the area.
The endangered fish species catfish also has spawning and nursery grounds here.
