In the forests of Norrland, along the Umeå River and just over an hour northwest of Umeå, lies Granöbygden. At Granö Beckasin, you can stay in a hotel room in a tree, sample the best the area has to offer in our organic restaurant, and enjoy the magical nature all year round.

Discover forests, mountain plateaus and the river, either on your own or with the help of our skilled guides who will take you through the wilderness on foot, in dog sleds, with snowshoes or by snowmobile. Experience the Umeå River from a raft or canoe. Watch as the northern lights dance across the sky and take in the magical midnight sun of a summer night. Book some time in the wood-fired sauna by the shore and go for a dip in the river.

Nature is central here, and we celebrate the simple and obvious. The changing seasons, the wildlife and the birdlife around us are constant sources of inspiration. The common snipe (enkelbeckasin), which can be seen and heard here in summer, is the inspiration behind our name.

Granö Beckasin was opened in 2005 by a group of local friends with a desire to create jobs and save the village school, which was at risk of being closed down. Our purpose has always been to work to promote development and entrepreneurship in our area. The school remains open today, and we are part of a network of small business owners who have changed the area. By visiting us you make a difference.
