Ölmstad - Gränna, Franciskusleden, St. Birgitta Ways

This day stage is one of the most beautiful on the St. Birgitta Ways. The route is highly varied in terms of both nature and terrain. It is steep in places, so be careful, especially if it's wet. At times, the trail markings are sparse, and the path coincides with several other trails with different markings, so stick to the digital map to find your way. The Franciscan Trail has some alternative routes along the shoreline a bit after Wettershus, which are very scenic but also quite steep, so the advice here is to stick to the trail on the digital map if you want to avoid overly steep sections.

You are walking along the Franciscan Trail, which passes through a very beautiful landscape near Lake Vättern. Here, you can hike through a living countryside with room for the soul and an interesting history. The trail also passes through the Eastern Vätterbranterna Biosphere Reserve, one of five biosphere reserves in Sweden. At "Öland," you can turn left down to Wettershus, a retreat center in a beautiful location. You can also stay overnight here, but you must book in advance. Röttle harbor is a beautiful resting place, and the Röttle waterfall is an experience that's hard to leave.
