Omschrijving
Hier vindt u een oud bos dat groeit op land dat kalk bevat. Het bos aan de Mellgårdsbacks is daar al lange tijd gegroeid. Je kunt het zien door de dode bomen die hier staan of liggen en waar. Het bos bestaat uit de meeste sparren van verschillende leeftijden, sommige oudere dennen en asparen. Op de historische kaart van 1810, toen de grote verschuiving werd vastgesteld, wordt het gebied gezien als bebost land. Sindsdien zijn er geen grootschalige bosbouwmaatregelen uitgevoerd, maar het bos heeft zich relatief vrij ontwikkeld. Volgens landeigenaren werd het tot de jaren zeventig op het bos ingezet.

Routebeschrijving
Follow road E14 south from Gällö. Turn right at the village of Grimnäs. After about 300 meters turn left. After about 700 meters there is a road barrier, if it is closed you can walk the last two kilometers to the nature reserve.

Welcome to Mellgårdsbackarnas nature reserve. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms.
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately damaging or disturbing wildlife.
- damage the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
