Protected area
This area is a shooting range or military training
area.
It is very important to read the information boards and signs on site. Never pass a closed roadblock! When the areas are sealed-off, entering is always prohibited. At many of the shooting ranges, a red flag is also raised to indicate that dangerous activity is taking place.
Blekinge has a long military
history. Karlskrona was founded in 1680 to meet the need for a naval base in Southern
Sweden. The naval city of Karlskrona has been designated by UNESCO as a world
heritage site.
Even today, the Swedish
Armed Forces are active in Blekinge. To be able to practice realistically, there
are various shooting ranges and military training areas. When the military
is not using these areas for training they are generally open to the public and
are in many cases popular for recreation. However, there are also some areas
that are always sealed off and public access is prohibited, they are called “protected
military installations”.

different types of areas here.
