Omschrijving
Göljahult is one of Blekinge's oldest nature conservation areas, and was protected as a natural monument as early as 1959 to preserve a stand of Norway spruce.
Spruce with snake-like branches
In Göljahult, between Eringsboda and Backaryd, there is a stand of Norway spruce. On the snake spruce, the needles are directly on the branches, which lack small twigs. The branches take on a winding, snake-like appearance. This is due to an inherited variation of common spruces. The form is wild-growing throughout Sweden. Göljahult is one of six places in the country with Norway spruce stands. They are found here in different ages and sizes. The nature reserve consists of spruce forest with elements of deciduous trees such as birch, oak and aspen.
