Beskrivelse

15 m high water tower which, as far as we know, was built in the 1880s. It is built in so-called slag brick made from slag, which is a residual product from iron production.

Many old houses in Bergslagen have this building material. Even in the past, it was possible to reuse material that at one stage was rubbish but then became useful for a completely different purpose. The purpose of this beautiful water tower is to provide water for the barn and pig house. On this large farm there were about 150 animals, so everyone can understand that a lot of water was used during a day.

Before the water tower was built, the water was carried or driven in small barrels pulled by horses or oxen. The water was pumped into the 3m3 reservoir at the top of the tower using a so-called ram pump, then the water ran under its own power to the barn. It was a sensational and labor-saving invention that made life easier for maids and farmhands.

To the northeast of the water tower, you can see a storehouse where grain and other things necessary for life on the manor were stored. In the northern of the two buildings, you can see the gaps along the walls that provided ventilation when grain was being dried. From the other warehouse we can almost smell the sausages and smoked hams hanging to dry.

If we look even further north and up towards the railroad, we see the farm carpentry where the carpenter made everything from fine furniture to rake sticks, we see a machine hall where the farm's tools and machines were stored after hard days in the field and finally a farm smithy where the blacksmith shod horses and repaired the farm's machines.

Maybe he pulled a tooth or two too, I thought someone screamed....
