Beskrivelse
A couple of miles northwest of Näsåker, right near Sörmoflo, there is a dam on the Fjällsjö River that creates a calm mirror-like reservoir. Please note that the river is regulated and water levels can change rapidly and without warning, as the flow is controlled by the hydropower company operating the dams. Both above and below the dam, water levels and currents can shift quickly.
Next to the dam, there is a small parking area and a grassy space with a picnic table and a grill. From here, you can walk out onto the dam itself or continue onto the rocks leading down to the rapids below.
Below the dam, the Kilforsen rapids run along the cliffs and empty into a large lagoon surrounded by steep cliffs and dense forest. You can get down to the lagoon either by following the rocks along the rapids or by trails through the nearby forest. If you climb around on the rocks, you can find so-called giant’s kettles of various sizes—natural depressions in the rock formed by the swirling motion of gravel and stones in the river.
In summer, it is possible to swim in some spots along the rapids, and it is said there is a small cave behind one of the waterfalls. However, it is important to be aware of the risks: the water can be fast-flowing, water levels can rise suddenly, and the rocks are slippery. Always exercise great caution when swimming, both above and below the reservoir. Conditions can change quickly due to water regulation.

**Safe and secure summer swimming - think about this!
Summer is finally here and many people are taking the opportunity to swim at our beautiful lakes and rivers. The bathing areas in Sollefteå municipality are run by local associations, and we would like to remind you of the importance of being extra careful - especially when children are by the water.
When swimming along regulated rivers, water levels and currents can change quickly and unexpectedly. Remember that the associations are responsible for maintaining the bathing areas, but that you as a visitor are always responsible for your own safety and the safety of others on the water.
**How to swim safely
- Always supervise children - never leave children unattended, even for a short time.
- Swim together - children should always swim with an adult.
- Teach children to swim - get children used to the water and practice swimming skills as early as possible.
- Use life jackets if necessary - especially for the youngest children and for those who are not able to swim.
- Check the depth and bottom - the water can get deep quickly and the bottom can be uneven.
- Keep your distance from boats and jetties - never jump in where you don't know what's under the surface.
- Respect the weather - never swim in thunderstorms and always be aware of strong currents.
**Especially important when swimming in regulated rivers
- The water level can rise quickly - always keep an eye on the shore and watch out for children playing near or in the water.
- The water current can quickly become stronger - avoid swimming at the outlet or inlet where currents can be strong.
**Take care of yourself and your loved ones - respect the power of the water and help create a safe and enjoyable swimming summer for everyone!
