Norra Ammarnäs-Trollskogen-Örnbo, Ammarnäs närleder

The local trails start from the nature center in Ammarnäs where there is more information, local trail maps to buy and experienced guides. This trail runs from Norra Ammarnäs to Örnbo.

The Örnbo trail runs along Georgsvägen via Trollskogen and the mill at Bissasbäcken. After about 1 km along the road towards Örnbo there is a sign Trollskogen. It is a short loop that eventually comes out further on Georgsvägen. The path goes through a mossy, slightly damp and magical coniferous forest at the foot of a steep rock wall. If you're lucky, you may see a lichen jay.

The mill at Bissasbäcken is open, just open the door and look in. There is a shelter, tables, benches and a toilet.

The Örnbo farm is today a state building monument in the Vindelfjällen nature reserve. In its day, Örnbo was a subsistence farm with 2-3 cows, sheep and goats but no horses. Potatoes were also grown. Meadows and buildings are today managed by Ammarnäsbor.

In the edge of the forest, red osier, daisy, mountain gentian and bracken grow. Along the brook and in the marsh, cabbage and northern sedge grow. Be observant! All the animals in the spruce forest visit Örnbo from time to time, including lynx. If you're lucky, jays, bullfinches and pine martens may visit the bird feeders or a golden eagle may sail over Örnbo.
