Beskrivelse
There are two cabins in Aivak. The older log cabin is an unlocked cabin with four beds, two of which are wider. Here you can stay overnight or rest.
Overnight stay in the cottage costs SEK 200 per person per night. Children 0-15 years stay for free. The fee is used for cabin maintenance, equipment and firewood. Payment information is available in the cottage. It is not possible to book the cottage or the beds.
Offer new guests to sleep in the beds if you have already slept one night. Hikers and skiers have priority for the beds.
The cabin has a wood stove, kitchen equipment, mattresses, pillows and blankets. Bring sheets or a sleeping bag. You, as a visitor, clean up after yourself and carry firewood from the wood store to the next guest. Don't forget to splinter sticks that are easy to make a fire with.
Dogs are allowed in the cottage, but they must not lie on mattresses or blankets. Also, do not use kitchen equipment as a food bowl.
Water can be fetched from the stream to the left of the outhouse.
The hut was built in the mid-19th century and moved to the site in the early 20th century. In summer 2018 it was renovated by the County Administrative Board.

Accommodation in the large cottage
Hook & Cup Sorsele rents out the large cabin. More information can be found on their website: Hook & Cup - Aivak Fjälllägenhet
History
The new building was built in 1910 by Jenny and Lars Teodosius who started a new building in Lövnäs in 1909, but as agriculture was not compatible with reindeer husbandry at the site, the house was dismantled, moved 3 km west and rebuilt in Aivak.
They cleared the land, built a barn for 3-4 cows, and put up various outbuildings. The family grew and eventually there were 8 children in the family. In 1934, a new and larger farmhouse was built a little further up the hill (the big cottage). The use of the land ceased in 1972.
Aivak was not the only new building around Överst-Juktan, but today there is no active farming on any of the mountain properties around the lake. The barn and the land around the Aivak mountain property have been restored. The barn is open.
