Beskrivelse
The Timmerhöjden reserve contains a natural forest with very high biological values. Species that would not survive in a normal production forest thrive here.
The reserve was established to preserve biodiversity and biologically valuable natural environments. Therefore, the forest will be allowed to develop freely and the natural water balance in the soil will not be damaged.
Animals and plants
The area consists of old spruce forest with elements of deciduous trees. The forest contains trees of different ages and also dying trees. Dead wood is found in various sizes and stages of decomposition. This creates important habitats for many rare mosses, lichens and fungi. Examples of species are the twig lichen Alectoria sarmentosa, the old spruce lichen Lecanactis abietina, the coral lead lichen Parmeliella triptophylla, the lung lichen Lobaria pulmonaria, the large aspen tick Phellinus populicola and the wood tick Phellinus viticola. Several of the species found in the area depend on high and even humidity. If the forest were to thin, the wind could blow through, making the air drier.

Värmlands län, Storfors municipality, just north of E18 and near the border with Örebro län. NOTE: The reserve is inaccessible due to a locked gate at E 18.
Forskrifter
In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- Collect invertebrates, such as beetles and snails,
- digging up vascular plants or collecting mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- driving motorized vehicles
- damaging or removing natural objects or surface formations or damaging the ground cover
- marking out tracks, organizing orienteering checks or holding competitions
- erecting a board, sign, inscription, poster or similar device
- damaging or removing trees and shrubs, including deadwood such as lying or standing dry trees and dry branches, and damaging or removing dead trees or parts of trees
Without the permission of the County Administrative Board, it is prohibited to:
- use the area for commercial purposes (e.g. tourism)
- regularly use the area for teaching purposes, for example
- carry out scientific or other research
