Mature mixed coniferous forest rich in structures important for biodiversity.

The area consists of an older mixed coniferous forest rich in structures. The spruce forest, where a few of the spruces are as old as 170 years, dominates the wetter environments and along the streams. Self-decay is in full swing and in some stretches of the streams there is plenty of dead wood in the water. There is also a deciduous spruce forest of the blueberry/moss type with small wetlands. Otherwise, the oldest trees in the area are the pines that grow on the moraine ridges that occur. These overhanging trees, which are between 150-200 years old, are surrounded by a younger tree layer consisting of pine with elements of birch. Otherwise, there are a number of smaller wetlands and the southern part of Furubergstjärnen, which in turn is the source flow of Metbäcken. The area is affected by two more streams The area's forests are multi-layered and varied. The proportion of dead wood is high in places, with some stands having reached the self thinning stage, which will further increase the proportion of dead wood.

The varied forest with structures such as dead wood in different stages, high soil moisture, old trees, late-growing trees and trees of different species creates conditions for many threatened species, including the red-listed species twig lichen, scented skin, violet-grey thorn lichen and pine thistle.
