Beskrivelse
Many of the old pine trees are 200-300 years old and bear traces of previous fires. With the exception of small areas, the area has been largely unaffected by forestry since the last fire in 1868.
The reserve was established to preserve a bog complex and a natural coniferous forest with high natural values in the form of dead wood, old large trees and plant and animal species associated with such habitats.
Animals and plants
The marsh is home to meadow butterflies, snipe, sea butterflies and Värmland's northernmost find of brown alder. The wetlands are very rich in birds with species such as yellow wagtail, crane, snipe, dunlin and curlew.
Facilities
There is an information board at the parking lot. Nearby is a prepared barbecue area with a view of Bäckelbergstjärnen.

The reserve is located in Värmlands län, Torsby municipality, just under 50 km northeast of Torsby. From the E45/road 62 junction in Värnas drive 12 km towards Malung. At a simple rest area (gravel field with shelter) turn left/north on a small gravel road with the sign "Munkebolssätern". About 1 km into that road is the reserve's parking lot. The gate is closed during the thaw.
Forskrifter
In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- collect invertebrates, such as beetles and land snails
- collecting mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- damaging or removing trees and shrubs, including deadwood such as lying and standing deadwood and dry branches
- putting up posters, billboards, posters, signs or inscriptions.
Without the permission of the County Administrative Board, it is prohibited to:
- to use the area for commercial purposes in an organized manner, and for schools and institutions to regularly use the area for scientific or other studies.
