Beskrivelse
The name of the reserve comes from the Huuskola croft, which was occupied as early as the 17th century. The croft is gone, but stories of its former owners and use remain, including that of the great bear hunter Huske-Per.
The Huskeberget nature reserve was established to preserve a coherent natural forest area with humid pine-dominated natural forest.
Animals and plants
Many species found in the area are dependent on high and even humidity. Large parts of the Huskeberget slope have a lush ground layer of white moss and several parts can be described as swamp forest.
Norwegian beak lichen is quite abundant in the area. It thrives on the coarser branches of old spruces. Värmland is the species' main distribution area in Sweden, which is why the county has a special responsibility to preserve areas where Norwegian beak lichen occurs.

(from 62): Turn towards Bograngen at the crossroads about 4 kilometers north of Sysslebäck. In Bograngen turn first towards the road to Flisa and then towards Järpliden. After about a mile turn right (about 1 kilometer before you get to Järpliden). Drive about 3.5 kilometers and turn right. Pass Husketorpet and when the road turns north take the left road at a y-junction. Park your car at the turnaround. The road is closed during the thaw.
Forskrifter
In addition to other laws and regulations, it is prohibited in the nature reserve to
- collect invertebrates such as beetles, snails and butterflies
- collecting mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- breaking branches, felling or otherwise damaging living or dead trees, standing and fallen trees, and bushes,
- use the area in an organized way for commercial purposes without the permission of the county administrative board, and for schools and institutions to regularly use the area to carry out scientific or other studies,
- drive vehicles, such as bicycles, tractors, snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles (quad bikes).
