Beskrivelse
At Hamnplan are two warehouses from the 1850s that are among Arvika's oldest buildings. Tall and stately, they tell the story of the merchants Mebius and Sandelin's businesses. Goods were stored here that were to be shipped out or that had arrived at the port.
Sandelin's warehouse has a white gable facing the water to be more visible, as a kind of sea mark to mark the port. The possibility of building a harbor was an important reason why the market town was placed here when it was formed in 1811.
Arvika is actually "Sweden's innermost port" - from here you can travel via Säffle and Lake Vänern to Gothenburg and further out on the world's oceans. The harbor also houses the Hantverksmagasinet and a brick building with clear boat references from 1951.
