Beskrivelse
Entering this nature reserve gives you the feeling of being in the jungle. Here the alders stand with their roots wet for most of the year and are surrounded by thick ferns. The alders are able to stand wet because they form plinths so that parts of the roots come above the water surface. This phenomenon also occurs in the more tropical mangrove forests, for example. The humidity in the swamp forest is high, and there is a lot of dead wood, which means that you can find many unusual species such as mosses and shells. When you visit Rickbasta, you can imagine what the valleys of the Uppsala plains might have looked like historically, before people started to dig them out. Rickebasta alsumpskog is a rather small nature reserve, 16 ha. There are no trails in the reserve, so it is up to everyone to explore on their own. However, the Upplandsleden trail passes at the edge of the reserve. However, it can be difficult to get over fallen trees and in the wet forest.

In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- dig, hoe or otherwise damage the soil surface
- break branches, cut down or otherwise damage living or dead trees or bushes
- digging up or picking flowers, grasses, mosses, fungi, lichens or otherwise removing or damaging plants or plant parts of any kind, with the exception of picking edible mushrooms, fruits and berries
- capture, kill or remove vertebrates, remove eggs or nests or otherwise deliberately disturb wildlife
- collecting or removing insects or other invertebrates
- making an open fire
- bring an unleashed dog or other loose pet
- driving or parking a motorized vehicle
- organize competitions
- camping
- riding a horse
- put up a board, poster, poster, sign or make an inscription
