Nordansjö

Do you want to hike in a tall coniferous forest and experience the tranquillity of a lonely bog, look for beaver lodges or perhaps take a row on a small lake? Then you should head for Nordansjö, it is a pleasant and varied place, which you are happy to return to.

The Nordansjö nature reserve spreads out around an old abandoned pasture. Only a ruin of the shed remains, but the open meadows are still there and the forest bears traces of the cows having grazed there. The marshes create a humid climate that favors many fungi and mosses that thrive on fallen trees and old stumps. Here and there in the forest you will find old roads and paths that show that the forest has not always been as deserted and unpopulated as it is today.

Next to Hundsjön, just outside the reserve, is Österbo fäbodar. It's a great place to eat your packed lunch or even stay overnight. There are no marked trails in the reserve, but through the southwest corner passes the 9 km long church path, which is also part of Upplandsleden, on its way from Tärnsjö to Skekarsbo. Parking is available at Österbo fäbodar, from here you follow Kyrkstigen to the reserve.
