**The rest area at Gåsholmen was destroyed by flooding and ice shear during the fall/winter of 2023-24. Unfortunately, it is not yet fully restored. Work to restore the rest area will continue in 2026.

The heavy floods in Tämnaren in the fall of 2023 severely damaged the available resting place. The water washed away the gravel around the rest area. When the ice then settled on the flooded Tämnaren, the situation for the rest area worsened even more. The ice moved and with its force it destroyed parts of the wooden deck and also the barbecue areas.

Since then, the County Administrative Board has been working to restore the rest area so that it is once again accessible to people with disabilities. The work is extensive and will continue in 2026.

The rest area is open and visitors are welcome. The walkway down to Gåsholmen is hardened and so is the ground at the rest area. It is therefore possible to get to the rest area with a wheelchair, walker or stroller. There are several seats on the beach to rest at. There is also a pit toilet, which survived the flood damage.

Parts of the wooden deck are still there, but the ramps up to the wooden deck have not yet been restored. This means that the wooden decks are not accessible by wheelchair or walker. The barbecue areas were destroyed by the flood and new ones are not in place again. It is therefore not possible to barbecue.
