Bredforsens naturreservat i Uppsala län

Bredforsen Nature Reserve is the closest you can get to Norrland in Uppsala County, both in terms of feel and geography. Norrland begins on the other side of the rapids in the Dalälven river, but even the beautiful walk through the forest and along the river gives a feeling of being further north than you are. Through varied forest with large aspens and old spruces, and on small bridges over the river, you can reach Landkvarnforsen on foot. Here on an island in the middle of the rushing rapids it is nice to rest and make a fire. The flowing water contains grayling and trout and many people visit the area to fish. There are also plenty of waterfowl here.

From the parking lot by road 292, you can follow the forest road and then the path to Landkvarnforsen. After 1.5 km of fairly rocky hiking, you arrive at a rapids area with small islands. Footpaths lead out onto the islands and to Landkvarnforsen. Between the parking lot and Landkvarnforsen there is a shelter with a fireplace and firewood. You can fish from the beaches but remember to buy a fishing license!
